Day 1 – Along the beaches Praia da Ilha-Forte da Ilha-Praia do Queimado

10:00 am - Lisbon Airport Gathering

• Transfer from the Airport to Herdade do Pessegueiro - Ilha do Pessegueiro.
• Arrival approx. 12:30 pm (Check-in)
• Transport to a local restaurant (Lunch).

Nothing like starting our first day with Pessegueiro Island in the background.

After lunch we start the tour towards the southwest and on leaving the Herdade we pass by the beach of Ilha do Pessegueiro, soon afterwards we discover the impressive Forte do Pessegueiro.

We will then begin to feel the salty breeze of the Atlantic, while we can see Praia do Queimado and Praia dos Aivados, with their impressive dunes.

At Aivados beach we will have the opportunity to make beautiful gallops.

During this afternoon, we created the first contact and knowledge with our friend and brave horse.

• At a time to be arranged, transport from the Estate to a local Restaurant, where dinner will be served.
• Accommodation at the Herdade.

Day 2 – Praia do Malhão -Milfontes- Falésias- Praia da Gaivota-Herdade

• At a time to be arranged, breakfast.
• After breakfast we will start the tour.

We start riding towards the southwest and as we leave the Herdade we can see the beaches of Aivados and Malhão with their impressive dunes.

Where we will have the opportunity to make long gallops.

We stop for a delicious picnic in a pine forest, surrounded by lavender and thyme. On the way back, we will be invaded by the vastness of the coastal plains until we reach the Herdade.

• At a time to be arranged, transport from the Estate to a local Restaurant, where dinner will be served.
• Accommodation at the Herdade.

Day 3 – Aivados Beach - Herdade

• At a time to be arranged, breakfast.
• After breakfast we will start the tour.

For the farewell, we went back to Aivados beach with its impressive dunes.

We will have one more opportunity to make beautiful gallops along the coast along the plain where we can enjoy the last gallops. We returned with our friends to their home, the estate. This is how the unforgettable tour comes to an end.

The Atlantic trail is the longest tour available on the estate. It lasts one week (5 days) along the Alentejo Coast and is intended for experienced riders.

Throughout the week, the riders enjoy breakfast at the estate, as well as dinner on the first and last day, the rest being in restaurants in the area, at the rider's responsibility.

Lunch in the form of a picnic, also included in the tour, is served in different places according to the daily route, but always in contact with nature. Accommodation at the Herdade is also included in the weekly package.

Program

Day 1 – From the charms of Porto Côvo to the Morgavel dam

There's nothing like starting our first day with breakfast at the Herdade, with our adventure companions close by.

As soon as we leave the estate, riding north, following the fishermen's trail of the Vicentine coast, we can see traces of a Neolithic Necropolis before crossing the small fishing village of Porto Côvo, where the streets end at the sea.

We continue along the coast passing by small beaches wrapped in cliffs where the cliffs hang over these with their fresh water sources.

We head east, where the ground is soft and amazing, for long and pleasant gallops before we find the first cork oaks.

We then make a stop for an appetizing and pleasant picnic near the Morgavel dam, while our horses rest.

After the picnic, some time to socialize and rest, we continue the journey back to the Herdade, crossing free-ranging Alentejo cattle properties. Upon arriving at the Estate, our horses take a bath and go to rest where we can watch them between games, while we enjoy a drink at the bar, followed by a typical Alentejo dinner.

During this day we created the first contact and knowledge with our friend and brave horse.

Day 2 – Along the beaches

After breakfast, we leave the Herdade towards the southwest where we start by seeing the Pessegueiro Island and the impressive Pessegueiro Fort.

With the salty Atlantic breeze as company, we head to the beaches of Aivados and Malhão with their impressive dunes and compact sand trails, ideal for long gallops.

We stop for a delicious picnic in a pine forest, surrounded by lavender and thyme. After a well-deserved rest, we will be invaded by the vastness of the plains, between small towns and seeing mountains and we will head towards the windmill where they used to grind the cereals in the village of Cabeça da Cabra where the horses will stay overnight.

Back at the Herdade, we head to dinner at an agreed time.

Day 3 – From Cabeça da Cabra to the Campilhas dam

On this day we head eastward, passing through groves of centenary cork oaks and stone pines, we arrive at the Campilhas dam, a freshwater lake where silence is deep and where only the birds can be heard, we will enjoy a magnificent picnic by the water.

After a nap, we follow the historic trail of the Vincentian route, along clay paths between eucalyptus trees and green valleys towards a farm in Serra do Cercal where the horses spend the night.

Back at the Herdade, we head to dinner at an agreed time.

Day 4 – From Serra do Cercal to Cabeça Da Cabra

We leave the farm behind and head towards Serra do Cercal.

In the valley of Sela Vermelha we pass close to the old iron mines of Cercal, where at the top of the plateau we have a spectacular view of the region.

We rest for the picnic in the shade of huge centenary cork oaks.

In the afternoon, we'll make some gallops through the pastures and eucalyptus trees and reach the goat's head mill again, where the horses will spend the night.

Back at the Herdade, we head to dinner at an agreed time.

Day 5 – Cabeça de Cabra- Milfontes- Herdade

In the morning we leave Cabeça da Cabra and ride south through Vale dos Godins, where we stop for a picnic near Vila Nova De Milfontes. After the picnic, we ride along the coast along the plain, between cliffs and beaches, where we can enjoy the last gallops and experience the last emotions on horseback and return with our friends to their home, the estate.

So our unforgettable week of adventure comes to an end with a fun and delicious farewell dinner.

The mini tour is for children aged between 3 and 12 years old, who have never had riding lessons. On this tour, children have the opportunity to ride a horse and are accompanied by a guide who holds the horse and walks alongside it.

Duration 15 min. at 20 min.

Baptism on horseback is an activity intended for all children who want to have closer contact with horses and learn the rules of safety and handling of them, such as learning to brush, harness (saddle and bridle) and perform a tour lasting 15min.

Duration: 40 min.

Baptism on horseback is an activity intended for all people with or without experience of riding a horse, who want to have a closer contact with horses and learn the rules of safety and handling them, such as learning to brush, groom ( saddle and bridle) and take a 1-hour tour. This activity lasts from 1:30h to 2h.

It is a specific day for lovers of horse riding, where they have the pleasure of riding 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon, enjoying the beautiful landscapes as well as the pleasure of trotting and galloping through the fields and beach.

It lasts for 1 day, minimum of 2 people and maximum of 8.

It is a horse ride intended for all people with or without horseback riding experience.

This tour can be carried out between 1h and 3h, depending on request, with a minimum and recommended duration of 1h, for people who have never ridden. The value of 40€ is per hour.
